
Gunnery Sergeant John S. Glaister enlisted in the Marine Corps in Oct 1993 and completed recruit training at MCRD Parris Island during the month of December. Following recruit training, Private Glaister attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton, CA, and during this time he was meritoriously promoted to Private First Class. Upon Completion, he was assigned the MOS 0121, Personnel Clerk.
Private First Class Glaister reported to his first duty station, Headquarters and Service Battalion, MarForPac, Camp Smith, HI in May of 1994 as a Personnel clerk. During this time Private First Class Glaister was meritoriously promoted to Lance Corporal and promoted to Corporal.
In April 1998, Corporal Glaister was transfer to Inspector-Instructor Staff, Joliet IL as a Personnel clerk and Toys for Tots coordinator. In January 1999, he was promoted to Sergeant.
Sergeant Glaister transferred to Headquarters and Service Battalion, 3d Force Service Support Group (3d FSSG) in May of 2001 as the Outbound Orders Chief. In June 2002, Sergeant Glaister was reassigned as the Awards/Adjutant Chief for the G-1 3d Force Service Support Group. In October 2004, he was reassigned as the Customer Service SNOCIC for MCB Japan IPAC. During this tour Sergeant Glaister was promoted to Staff Sergeant.
Staff Sergeant Glaister was then transferred to Inspector-Instructor Staff, Lynchburg VA as the Admin Chief and Toys for Tots coordinator. During this tour Staff Sergeant Glaister was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant.
Gunnery Sergeant Glaister was transferred to Manpower Service Support Office 2 (MISSO 2) in January 2010, where he served as the Operations Chief. During this time he was deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom as the SNOCIC for Manpower Service Support Office 11 (MISSO 11).
Gunnery Sergeant Glaister was transferred to Marine Corps Service Support Schools in January 2013 as an Instructor for Personnel Administrative School.
Gunnery Sergeant Glaister retired from the Marine Corps on 30 September 2014.
Gunnery Sergeant Glaister start his MCJROTC teaching at Marine Leadership Academy in Chicago IL. Where he was the 8th grade instructor, head wrestling coach, head football coach, and the alethic director.
Currently Gunnery Sergeant is the Marine Instructor at Jack C. Hays High School in Buda TX.
Gunnery Sergeant Glaister’s has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Healthcare Management from Southern Illinois Carbondale. His personal awards include Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal in lieu of one gold star, Joint Achievement Medal, Navy Achievement Medal in lieu of four gold stars, Good Conduct Medal in lieu of one sliver star, Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
Gunnery Sergeant Glaister is married to Jessica Martin and has five children.
